Screaming silence cries to mute an eloquent lie
A rising tide, tick, tock, tongue-tied
Deaf, dumb, unkind and home to see a promise denied
 
Eyeless and perverse, darker than the ebony key
Our hidden curse, the guarded secret’s decree to me
 
Preying on your every fear, it will emerge from the night
Making shades of grey from what was black and white
Before the dreamless sleep and through your fragile tears
Drawing bated breath, the secret ever near

You look back on your life, a flashback in slow motion
It’s just a moment in time, a tale of devotion
Searching for that fragile key, digging for the sound
Of the guarded secret deeper down, deeper down

Deep inside, violence, the honesty that I can’t find
