about

A romantic, but sad song about a unknown soldier torn from his loved one, forced to fight on foreign soil, left to wander broken hearted with nothing and no-one to return to.

This is the first song worked on by Dave and Neil.

lyrics

I know I know I know I know
Where I'm supposed to go
But I don't want to be there
In the rain and the snow

All I want is to hold you tight
And keep you from the cold
Tell me that you'll miss me
Kiss me then I'll go

For a hundred years, The chains bite so deep, My skin grows over
For a thousand years I keep on walking There is no other
My eyes cast down, On holy ground,
But my heart is strong
And I fight, With my fellow man,
But I'm gone to long

I'd been waiting for the day
When I'd leave all this,
all this gathered over time,
leave it so far behind behind

We keep ourselves sane
My mind nearly whole
With thoughts of my home
That other men stole

And I have killed
So many good men
Now I am alone
I dream of you again

And I must avoid
The tracks on my path
I now know who made them
It's a link to my past

In the gardens of the East
And the deserts of the South
I take to the wing
With no other way out

Skimming the dunes
And the mountain peaks
Destined never to find
What it is I seek

I cry and I fall
With my body broken
And I see my future
Before I have woken

So black and burning
A sky full of fire
I stand at your side
As you reach higher

At night I dream
In your eyes
I see my death

Through your eyes
I'm seeing
As I'm laid to rest

In my heart I know
Another Man
Warms your bed

At night I cry
Your eyes
Have seen my death

So few are standing
and our end is come
Shoulder to shoulder
We stand as one

But the line is broken
How can any survive
They fall upon us
Are none left alive ?

Through the stinging rain
And the freezing snow
With the howling of the wind
I can't see where to go

Who knows where I'm going
What I'll do when I'm there
All I know is I want you
I'll lie naked in your hair
