about

This is a live studio recording with a few overdubs. Originally recorded for our own reference, it was sounding quite good, so we finished the mix/master process.

Complete Studio recording of this track will early 2015 - and will be on the second album due out later in the year.

lyrics

It was the darkest night
as the black train
cut through the silence
like a razor blade

It was the darkest night
as the passengers screamed
like ten thousand
tortured souls

Like the maw of some bored god
the tunnel swallowed them
no moon shone high above
no light showed their way

The brakeman slept
the sleep of dyonisus
the guard with a pair of aces
smiling, sealed his fate

Little hero closed his eyes and
held his mothers hand
everything would be alright
she gave him to understand

But little hero wasn’t
as young as he seemed
he’d been here before
and this is what he dreamed

I Need My Pillow, I Need My Pillow
I Need My Pillow, I Need My Pillow
I Need My Pillow, I Need My Pillow
I Need My Pillow, I Need My Pillow

His mother lay dying at his feet
hair strewn about her pretty head
all around his young eyes
soaked up the dying and the dead

He kissed his mothers ruined face
with lips cold and drained
feeling right out of place
he walked on down the train

Through the door wide open
one step to the black beyond
sailing through the velvet dark
the life left behind was gone

The brakeman on the train
all shattered bones and brittle skin
no longer knew what he was
burnt and melted and melted as he burned

The guard with the winning hand
who had dealt the dying card
clung to his fame and fortune
like an selfish child

In the darkest night
the train it bucked and it rolled
and it moaned as it lolled
out of gods mouth

In the darkest night
as the passengers bled
so rich and so red
and so silent

hero spirals down
in thick liquid darkness
a dervish spinning through
the mists of time

Disturbed, not awakened
sister moon stirred
beneath her bed of clouds
but no light was cast down

With the lightest touch
hero lands in a dusty room
icons from his mothers life
dance to a children's tune

He's no longer a child
hair sprouts from various places
little hero finds himself
choosing from vicarious faces

Satisfied with the aspect
of a bearded transient
he opens the door
he knows heaven's scent

Hero spirals down
in thick liquid dark
a dervish spinning
through the mists of time

Disturbed, not awakened
sister moon stirred
beneath her bed of clouds
but no light is cast down

In the cellar of this dangerous home
stirs a nightmare name
left alone to distill
it burns like acid rain

With simple awareness
it knows he's there
with no obvious means
it sniffs the air

Down a creaking wooden corridor
dark rooms to either side
hero picks his lonely way
against the darkening tide

He hears his mother's voice
happy and young
a smiling echo of the woman
she’s about to become

A dark cloud descends on hero
trapped inside, possessing his feelings
as he walks he listens to the sound
of young lust through the ceiling

He walks along the thick carpeted stair
to the playroom door slightly ajar
he knows what he’ll find inside
as he pauses….he takes a breath

The loving promise of violence
hangs in the air
tangible and trembling
sweat and plastered hair

A dark cloud descends on hero
trapped inside, possessing his feelings
as he walks he listens to the sound
of young lust through the ceiling

He walks along the thick carpeted stair
to the playroom door slightly ajar
he knows what he’ll find inside
as he pauses….he takes a breath

A foreign anger burns and boils
his gut churns in acid hell
he kicks down the door
and screams......

With someone’s powerful arms
he breaks a young man in two
then turns his attention to his
cowering half-covered daughter

The promise of violence
hangs in the air
tangible and trembling
is replaced by something more sinister

....baby - if it's loving you want

Unable to endure the nightmare scene
hero tears his mind loose
and tries to stop
this crime in his mind

He picks up a Black Train
with two small hands he starts
to force it slowly into his own mouth
eyes stream with tears from his heart

Wake up now
Wake up little Hero
Wake up
Wake up now
